Darlington County residents have access to outstanding medical facilities in McLeod Medical Center Darlington, Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center, and CareSouth Medical Centers.

 

McLeod Medical Center

mcleod-hospital.jpgMcLeod Medical Center Darlington is a 49 bed not-for-profit JCAHO accredited community hospital providing inpatient acute care and inpatient skilled nursing (swing beds) to the residents of Darlington county and the surrounding communities. McLeod Medical Center Darlington also provides a wide range of outpatient testing and treatment services such as Laboratory, Radiology (CT, Diagnostic, Mammography), Respiratory Therapy (ECHO, EKG, Vascular Studies), Surgical Services (General Surgery and Laparoscopic Urological and Gynecological Procedures), in addition to Rehabilitative Services (Occupational, Speech and Physical Therapy).

 

Also located on the campus is McLeod Family Medicine-McLeod Medical Center Darlington, which consists of five family practitioners and one nurse practitioner. In addition, several specialists who practice in Florence and Hartsville are available to see patients on the campus of McLeod Medical Center Darlington.

 

Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center

carolina-pines.jpgCarolina Pines is a 116-bed hospital and medical campus providing complete, comprehensive health services. Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center offers the latest laboratory technology, advanced diagnostic imaging equipment, a 12-bed intensive care unit, a dedicated women's center, a pediatric wing and a state-of-the-art emergency department.  The hospital has large patient rooms with private bathrooms, telephones and televisions, as well as spacious waiting areas for family and friends.

 

Built on approximately 34 acres, the 175,000 square foot $25 million hospital and medical campus opened in May 1999. Conveniently located on SC Highway 151, a half of a mile west of 14th Street in Hartsville, Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center serves the four surrounding counties of Chesterfield, Darlington, Lee and Marlboro.

 

The 45,000 square foot Medical Office Building is located adjacent to the hospital at 701 Medical Park Drive and connects to the hospital allowing easy access for patients, visitors, physicians and staff. Carolina Pines Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation Center, CPRMC Cardiac Rehabilitation Department and numerous physician offices are conveniently located in the Medical Office Building.

 

CareSouth Carolina

During the past two decades, the Society Hill Family Health Clinic has grown to become a national model of health care delivery in rural communities. Now called CareSouth Carolina, the private non–profit community owned business operates nine medical centers in seven communities in the Pee Dee region: BennettsvilleBishopville, Cheraw, Hartsville, Lake View, McColl, and Society Hill.  In 1991, CareSouth Carolina became the only community health center in the nation to be designated an Area Agency on Aging - Vantage Point.  In 2001, CareSouth Carolina began its Care INNOVATIONS division, delivering comprehensive HIV/AIDS primary health care services to residents of Chesterfield, Darlington, Lee and Marlboro Counties.
